Grapes and Roses

This 12" square plate has just been finished - in fact it was still a little warm from the last fire in the kiln when the picture was taken.
I have ground laid metallic on the left hand side of the plate, with some raised paste under the two gold bands. The little circle you can faintly see on the top right corner is a circle of penned dots - after the first fire a blemish appeared on the glaze of the porcelain which showed up more each time the piece was fired. To make something positive out of this blemish, I circled it with the dots!

Grapes and Roses

Here is a close up of part of the main bunch of grapes.

More roses!

This 8" dish was painted the other week and I gave it to a friend who hosted us in their home last weekend. The angled sides were painted pink with white enamel over darker pink scrolls.
Our hostess used it several times while we stayed with them . . . . I always like to see people using articles I have painted!

Pansies

I painted this 8" dish the other day, and I quite like the pastel colours I have swirled in the background. It is a nice size dish for putting a few biscuits or pieces of cake on when serving coffee.

Sarah Jane and her dad at the pool!

I couldn't resist adding this lovely picture of Sarah Jane and her father at the local swimming pool. Like most children, Sarah Jane loves the water especially when she can splash with her little hands!

Breast Cancer Fun Run Fund Raiser!

This is Chloe my eldest Grand Daughter, with her daughter Sarah Jane (my Great Grand Daughter) as they are about to start our local Breast Cancer Fun Run Fund Raiser the other day. Sarah Jane was the youngest girl to enter the race, and was a real hit with all who saw her! This is a very popular race each year in our city, raising a lot of money toward breast cancer research. Hundreds of girls of all ages turn up to run . . . nearly all of them wearing fun clothes and outrageous bras!

Pansies

I was wanted a soft background for this oblong dish, and popped platinum around its edge. It is about 8" long and just perfect for afternoon tea biscuits!

btw - I have just turned 70 years of age, and although I cannot beleive it nor do I feel it, my birth certificate proves it to be true. So I had better get those heirlooms painted!
