I Love this!

I saw this piece of porcelain in a shop and immediately pictured tulips on it. I used some "chipping off" powder to remove the glaze on one end, and after firing high applied liquid bright gold. I have this piece in my own home and enjoy it very much.

Breast Cancer Support Gifts

Here are some of the 30 porcelain mugs painted by myself and fellow porcelain artists as gifts for the Breast Cancer Support group in Tauranga, North Island, New Zealand.
We painted them with love and compassion, and they were received with joy and encouragement. Such a blessing to be a blessing to others!

I don’t know how many hours I must have spent sitting here painting over the years, but it has been most rewarding.
I am painting at a pull out ledge in a cupboard in our conservatory.
If you look behind me, you will see the tide is in, in the estuary!

I loved painting this 12" vase.
Pink is a favourite colour of mine to paint, and roses are my favourite subject! Enjoy!
This is a piece I really enjoyed painting & my
students produced
some really fine examples
themselves.
There are many varieties of products which can be used to make interesting background edges.
On this plate, I have used acid etch under gold, texture paste and base for gold under gold, and pen work.

Kiln Temperatures

Kiln temperatures and the firing process play an important part in getting the best results for the hours of work that is put in to painting the article.
Most of my work is fired to 820 degrees C on the first fire, and 800 on each successive fire.
If I am putting gold on a piece on the last fire I will fire at 700 degrees C.

Porcelain Exhibitions

A great way of furthering this art is to hold public exhibitions where large numbers of artists from many countries meet to discuss & show their art.
I returned 2 weeks ago from an Australasian (Australia and New Zealand) Porcelain Artists Teachers (APAT) Exhibition. I came home freshly inspired!
All 4 pieces I painted especially for the exhibition sold, which was encouraging.

My first Great Grand Daughter - Isabella Kate

I painted this box to welcome my first Great Grand Daughter Isabella Kate, born September 2007. The box has her birth details underneath; this is her first heirloom! Being a porcelain artist has enabled me to paint something to commemorate each of my 9 Grand Children - either a plate, serviette ring or small shoe or boot. As the Grand Children have become older, they treasure their piece of heirloom porcelain, painted especially for them. No doubt there will be many Great Grand Children to come ........... so I will paint a piece for each one of them
