This is a pic of the saucer so you can see all the design, as most of it is covered by the cup in the picture below

Cup and Saucer
The design for this cup and saucer was adapted from an idea by Dianne DesOrmeaux. I saw the design in a magazine a long time ago and it has been on my list of "things to paint one day". So last week it was THE week to paint it.
The blank cup and saucer has been sitting on my shelf for about 12 years waiting for its art work!
And now its done, and I love it.

Shaltiel Name
My madien name is Saltiel, which is the english version of the Hebrew word Shealtiel. You find Shealtiel who was the father of Zerubbabel in the Bible in the book of Ezra.
(makes an interesting read) This family name comes from the Tribe of Judah, from the Household of David, and the family of Shealtiel.
Nearly 20 years ago I attended an in-gathering of the family in Amsterdam, and painted this small Belek plate as a memory. The word is Hebrew for Shealtiel, and the name means "I have asked of God".
I have always felt it a great privilege to have been born under that name.
(just thought I would tell you a tiny bit about my background!)

The Tassle!
This 10" porcelain tile was painted in a day workshop at Sydney last month, with Peter Faust and Harun.
It was a fun project, although the penning of the tassle was a nightmare!!
Two lustres were run together with turps for the background, and the rest of the work is painted with ordinary china paints using the "wet on wet" technique. Peter's medium is a closed one, so it was relatively easy to paint wet on wet.

10" Porcelain tile painted by Filipe
This 10" porcelain tile was painted by Filipe in my class at the APAT Sydney school held 2 hours bus ride from the centre of the city in a delightful manor in the town of Bowral. This is 2 fires ..... it took Filipe about 10 minutes for each fire and then it was my commission to copy it on my own. It took me nearly all day to do my fires!! So really, my plate (posted below) took me 2 days to paint!
Poppies painted by myself, 2 fires
This is a 10" plate which I painted in Filipe's class at the APAT Sydney school which was held in a beautiful manor in Bowral, 2 hours bus ride from the centre of Sydney where the exhibition was held.
