Our club had a project to paint a bird, and I chose this bright cockey rooster who is standing among the beans in the garden. I liked his cockiness, so gave him this name!
He is painted on a 9" square porcelain tile, and I chipped off the circle around him to enclose him on the tile. There is liquid bright gold on the circle, and the green around it was (first fire) all the colours of Cockey applied at random. Then I painted a fairly heavy coat of the green of the leaves all over the multi - colours. If you look hard, you may see the multi - colours through the green!
Look below and you will see the first three fires of this tile.

Sassy Sandal 1
This sandal was a design of Cheri Holder, u.s.a. and which I painted in her class in San Francisco last October. I painted the two shoes underneath as samples for the class I taught this last weekend in Tauranga, the city I live in. It was the New Zealand Porcelain Artists Association's AGM, and the President arranged three different workshops over 2 days for the people who attended the meeting.
It was a lovely time with painters from all over the country . . . . . . unfortunately I forgot to take a photograph of the shoes painted by the girls in my class!

Violets on Bone
Mmmmmm . . . . . I finished this 7" bone plate yesterday, and although the colours haven't photographed quite as bright as they are in reality, I still love it!
Traditional, the "old world" look is still my first love. I like using modern techniques but I love painting traditional pieces more. Does that make me an old fashioned girl?
Maybe I am in part, although I love glitz and glam with jewellery, nail polish, and some of the clothes I wear.

The month of May already!
The last month has whizzed by, with no painting done at all. Jim (my husband of 55 years) and I went to Sydney to celebrate our wedding anniversary, to spend a little time with one of our Grand Sons who is studying at the New South Wales university, and to holiday a few days with our oldest son and his wife as together we hired a campervan and did a short trip to the Hunter Valley.
All this gives you the excuse for no painting, and no posting on my blog!
