This has had 4 more fires . . . . I tried to darken around the roses to show them up more, and give some interest to the foliage. The dark border stops the eye from shooting off the design and edge of the plate. What do you think?

The Jan Fegley Plate

Finally ! The urn is finished.
Finally, after all this time, the urn is finished and glued together.I have loved doing it. (of course!)
The little flowers on the ground lay are made with "non-ping" which is similar to an enamel but adheres better. I applied gold metallic powder on each flower centre before they were fired, and this has given them a nice sheen when the light hits them. When you look closely you can see the maroon of the ground lay through the petals which give them added dimension.
The handles have mother of pearl on them to give them a nice shine and interest, and if you could see inside the neck of the urn there is mother of pearl there also.
Enjoy!

A memory from our 10 day cruise in January 2012

We had a most wonderful cruise amongst some of the Pacific Ocean Islands with absolutely perfect weather. I snorkelled for the first time in my life and loved the experience of seeing so many brightly coloured fish swimming around underneath me.
This photo was taken one night at dinner . . . . I am still trying to find a suitable place to hang the calendar up so it will be useful, and also be a reminder of our trip!
By the way . . . no more progress on the urn!
