Pansy Vase . . .

SOMETIMES !!  I paint something apart from roses :-)

The vase, given to me by my friend Ming Lien from Taiwan, was painted with pansies using deep purple and Miesen Green in the background.   The neck was 3 fires of the Miesen Green cross hatched to get the textured coloured look.    The band of gold is edged with I.Relief, the band itself acid etched with lines and then fired.    Liquid Bright Gold covered this work, and after firing I painted Miesen Green lightly over the middle section of the band.

The main part of the 6" pot (below)  was painted much the same way, except the LBG first has a heavy application of Miesen Green and when fired  was covered with LBG and glad wrapped.   It is a pleasing effect.

Pansy Set!

Pretty Little Birds!

Love these pretty little birds!         This unpainted dish was sitting on a shelf in a second hand shop, and although I have LOTS of unpainted china in my cupboards waiting to be painted I couldn't resist paying the money and taking this dish home with me.    I sat down and painted it as soon as I got home!!    The orange lustre on the outside followed indentations in the china, but the rest of the work is porcelain paints.   

Bird Box

I loved this design so much decided to paint it on the lid of this little box.

Bright Fun!

I painted this the other week . . . . . just in the mood to do roses.      I wanted something bright, so added the bright blue to offset the pale-ish roses.   

The piece ( 12" ) would be a good size and shape for serving cookies to guests.   :-)

Happy New Year to you all!     Although today is the 23rd January it is not too late to wish you all the very best for the year ahead.   May this be a wonderful year for you, and as you reflect at the end of the year may you feel blessed and a sense of fulfillment as you reflect on the months of 2015.  

It is mid summer here in New Zealand where I live, and although summer has been late in coming we are now having beautiful sunny days.    "I love those lazy hazy days of summer....."
