My madien name is Saltiel, which is the english version of the Hebrew word Shealtiel. You find Shealtiel who was the father of Zerubbabel in the Bible in the book of Ezra.
(makes an interesting read) This family name comes from the Tribe of Judah, from the Household of David, and the family of Shealtiel.
Nearly 20 years ago I attended an in-gathering of the family in Amsterdam, and painted this small Belek plate as a memory. The word is Hebrew for Shealtiel, and the name means "I have asked of God".
I have always felt it a great privilege to have been born under that name.
(just thought I would tell you a tiny bit about my background!)

The Tassle!
This 10" porcelain tile was painted in a day workshop at Sydney last month, with Peter Faust and Harun.
It was a fun project, although the penning of the tassle was a nightmare!!
Two lustres were run together with turps for the background, and the rest of the work is painted with ordinary china paints using the "wet on wet" technique. Peter's medium is a closed one, so it was relatively easy to paint wet on wet.
