Copper Pot

Last week I was in the mood to paint small things!  This pot is only 3" high and if you click on the picture it will be enlarged enabling you to see the swirls of colours easier.
There are enamel dots under the gold, and the body of the two parts of the pot were painted with copper and fired, then covered with weeping opal and fired.   Amazing chemical reactions take place in the kiln to give this effect.   It is particularly nice when the sun shines on it!

A Small Piece of Limoges

This 3" jug was purchased unpainted years ago for a considerable amount of money.    It has the genuine Limoges stamp on the bottom and has been sitting on a shelf waiting to be painted.   The other day I thought "this is the day to paint that lovely Limoges jug" !
The back ground is random purple and shading green, with a little bit of enamel embellishment.

Glass Tile

THIS is the glass tile!       I cannot believe I still haven't been able to post quickly, easily and correctly.    All these years it has been so simple.    oh well . . . . enjoy anyhow.

Glass Coaster

When I was in San Francisco I saw some lovely glass work painted by Stella Shilling.    The other day I saw some suitable glass coasters in a shop so purchased a few to paint and give away as gifts.
Here is the first one I painted.

Philippine Memories.

Some of you may have read earlier that I went with a group of four other ladies to the Philippines in November, to help out in an orphanage on the island of Mindoro.    What a great time that was!
I so wanted to write a report about it, but I just couldn't work out how to overcome the problems I was experiencing on posting things on my blog.

I painted these little heart ornaments for each team member with the destination and date on the reverse, thinking they would be a nice memento of their Mission Trip.
Naturally I loved preparing them!

The Christmas Exchange Gift.

During November I was involved with a Christmas exchange, and painted a dear little Christmas ornament for an internet friend in the U.K.     During the last fire there was a little accident during firing which made the ornament not suitable to send to my friend, so what could I do?   I was committed to this exchange!      The decision was made to post an early Easter Exchange Gift instead  . . . . . . and the lady didn't seem to mind one bit.    Thank you Pauline.

The "trial run" etched glass.

This is a trial run to see if using the etching technique gave me the effect that I was wanting on the stemmed glass.   I loved "the look" so went a head and etched the 6 glasses below for my friend.
Finally, FINALLY I think the problem with my blog has been fixed, and I look forward to posting text and pictures regularly again.    So watch this space!
And kind regards to those of you who look at my blog from time to time.  :-)

Etched glasses for my friend

Here are the 6 etched glasses I prepared for my friend.    The glasses were so difficult to photograph, but you will be able to see overall what they look like!

2013!

I am sincerely trusting that I will be more consistent with my blogging in 2013!

While in America in August, I saw some glasses which were etched and then fired.     The product for etching was available for sale so I purchased some and this is my trial effort.    The result was pleasing so I painted a set of 6 glasses as a gift for my friend Yvonne from Palmerston North.
