Small pretty dish
Here is a 4" dish I have just finished painting. There is charcoal metallic grounded between the flowers and a band of it on the bottom of the outside of the dish. I put liquid bright gold over the chipped off area but with hindsight it might have been prettier if I painted this band with liquid platinum instead. Never mind . . . I still like this pretty dish!

Looking at Veronique's wonderful book!
This is Ming Lien and myself, standing in my hallway looking at Veronique Rigaud's wonderful book she had printed at the end of last year.
It is a Dictionary of china painting terms and techniques - all in French though, so I can only pick up a word or too!
Ming and I are looking at 6 pictures of a vase I painted to demonstrate "The American Technique" for the book. I wrote the instructions in English, and Veronique translated into French. For any French speaking painters reading this blog ..... this is a wonderfully presented and informative book on China Painting.
By the way, you can view some of Veronique's work at:
and Ming's work on her website www.porcelainpainting.org

My gift from Ming and Stanley Lien
May I introduce Ming and Stanley Lien, from Taiwan. I taught Ming to paint on porcelain many years ago here in Tauranga where her family were residing, and as they now reside permanently back in Taiwan Ming has begun to teach also. She has many students, and you can see some of her work on http://www.porcelainpainting.org/
The gift of a seal stamper is marked with "Katies Porcelain Studio", Tauranga, New Zealand and is for using on certificates which I present to students when they have completed a special series of teaching.
The shape of the seal stamper is a Merlion, and because it is very heavy makes a very clear seal.
