Narrow Tray

I purchased this piece of plain white porcelain years ago while attending the IPAT convention in Nashville, and always mentally saw a few simple roses on it.     When a piece is used for biscuits or dainty morsels, often a very plain dish shows the food nicely.    And so a month ago I painted this!

Oval Platter (close up)

This is a close up of the platter I painted and posted below.

Oval Platter

The other week I was running (exaggerated!) through Farmers Store, and saw this gorgeous shaped oval 12" platter.    So of course I had to stop and buy it, and almost straight away went home and sat down and began to paint it!      The back ground has had matt white sponged over it, and then covered with mother of pearl after firing.    I wanted a soft and dainty look for the platter and I think I have accomplished that.  :-)

Time!

On posting the plates below, I noticed that I haven't posted since the middle of August.   I am appalled!
Three whole months have slipped by   . . . . there is simply no excuse 'cos everyone has 24 hours in every day - no one has more time than anyone else.     It's just keeping priorities isn't it?  :-)
But I am aiming to do better in the future!!
So watch this space..........

Modern Flowers 1

The design is based on one Peter Faust taught at the Sydney apat school last year.    It looked like a fun plate to paint, so I recently sat down and accomplished it!    I guess there are all sorts of variations that could be painted from the same design  . . . .   you will see the second plate I painted underneath this post.
Enjoy!

Modern Flowers 2

Here is the second piece I painted with the same idea.    I filled in some of the "bubbles" with colour and I quite like the difference.
Both plates are 12" round.
